Vista slowly developed to one of the best operating systems out there.
A lot of people ignored the fact that Microsoft had to delay the development of Vista a long time, because they had to take care of some serious security attacks on Windows XP. I am not searching for excuses for Microsoft, I certainly agree that they shouldn’t have released an unstable product like Vista after 5 years of development. However I think that bashing Vista is not so fair after all.

The new Windows Vista has some very cool features aside from Aero, one of those features is Vista DreamScenes. It’s a tool that allows you to have animated wallpapers on your desktop. A Vista animated background is eating a lot of memory but fortunately only if you are on the desktop. Don’t worry about it unless you have a very old PC.
To setup your own animated background Vista Ultimate requires a format called “.dream”. Should you be using another Windows Vista, then you will have to buy Vista DeskScapes. Unfortunately there is only a paid version available, because Windows DreamScenes was intended to be an exclusive feature of Vista Ultimate, but DeskScapes is worth the small fee of $19.

Vista backup/restore system files

The last couple of days I had to deal with a few problems, that were mainly caused by some stupid mistakes. I turned off my computer holidng the power-on button for a few seconds (this will usually shutdown a PC completely), because I was in a hurry and had to leave. After I turned on the PC again a couple hours later I received a message that the file /system32/config/system was missing and this is a crucial file of the operating system…
